How many kg have you dropped since cycling?

Recommended Posts

13kg in 3 months with a balanced diet from my dietician and plenty of TITS - awesome glucose levels and cholesterol comparable to that of a child.

Want to loose another 5kg to get down to 95kg

Lost about 5kgs and been stable at 80kg for a while now. Just can't get lower. I have dropped two pants sizes, so I suspect I'm putting on muscle due to gymming twice or thrice a week. Definitely more toned.

I should go back to the reason I started cycling in the first place...I had always been a comfortable mid 90kg kind-of-guy at 1.82m, although I did carry excess weight, it didn't seem a problem. That was until one morning I woke up, stepped onto the scale and saw triple digits, I was officially over 100kg - 102 to be precise. It was quite possibly that very afternoon that I went out and bought my first bike, a Giant Talon 29 hardtail.

Since then I have progressed from hardtail to dual suss to road, loving every moment on my bike...whether it be tar or gravel.

I am now at a much more healthy 79kg, with a goal of getting to 75kg race weight...perhaps even less!

In total that's 23kg in a period of roughly 2 years.

Since I started I dropped from around 95km to a see-saw between 88-90.  I am 178cm tall, so not necessary overweight. I used to gym quite hard.

In January 2015, to support my wife I joined her doing a full Paleo diet. I was 90km when we started. Now I am freefalling ito weight.  This morning I stood at just over 84km.  One thing with Paleo, is I cant control the freefall.  I'll see where I end up.  All I know is I am feeling great, and looking not bad either - a bit thinner over the chest and shoulders, but I don't mind too much.

So to summarize - just over 10km thus far in total...

Haven't dropped any kg's since I started with the bikes.. could be from lack of training, I donno.. Started on a meal plan a few weeks ago, along with the GetFit Challenge at the local gym - and already I've lost a few centimeters. They say the weight should drop in the 2nd half of the challenge.

And here I thought the other benefit of cycling was to increase km's?

I lost 28kg's and have been sitting solid at 76 for about six months now.

I feel so much less sluggish than I used to, and have energy to jump around with my kids now.  It's a total transformation for the better.  Love it.

I have dropped just over 12 kilo's in the past 18 or so months. All from riding. I have not been following any diet and still eat and drink the crap I want to. So I reckon with some focus and discipline I could get below 100kg. I am at 110kg at present. When I started I weighed around 122kg. I am MUCH fitter though.

I have weighed between 85 - 87 since I started cycling, nothing has changed!

No diet involved so that could be the reason why.  :whistling:

  • 20kg's!! I've gone from about 112kg down to 92kg since September 2013 when I started cycling. Two pants sizes down and one shirt size down. I'm eating healthier most of the time but still enjoy braai, pizza, pudding etc

I wish I had before pics like JoeZipp above in cycling gear.

I'll go as far as saying, starting cycling has changed my life.

Riding with my sons is the best thing we've ever done together.
