Finally picked up a Marsh Guard for R100.00 from http://www.velolife.co.za Thats the cheapest I've seen so far. One website wanted R195.00 + R120.00 postage.

When I asked on of my LBS if they had any guards they told me African's don't use mud guards its a european thing. Funny thing when i was the Velolife shop they say they'd been flying off the shelves.... Must be a european thing.

Agreed. LBS stick one on your demo bike it is winter after all.... get a few in stock and hey presto you create demand for a cheap accessory that allot of guys will buy on impulse. I use to own a few surf / kitesurf shops and people would always come in drool at the latest gear. Even if they couldn't afford they'd still walk out with at least a sticker or a small token item. We made more money on the small items than we did on the high end gear.

If anyone in Jhb makes them, let me know where you get the plastic from. A milk bottle just does not do it for me and I cannot find anyone that stocks laminate type placemats any more...

I used a plastic placemat from Crazy Store at R8-00. The place mat is flimsy but the geometry of the mud guard retains the form. Works great, my wife and I have been using this DIY setup for 3 months now.

Just saw this now. Thks for the heads up. I'll try my nearest Crazy store. I find that template a little too short in the front, so I want to extend it a little..
