Your bike must behave like wet cardboard when you accelerate or sprint?

One thing I don't understand, and perhaps someone can explain it in simple terms to me.

With your weight of 130 kg and impressive FTP of 365 your watt / per kg = 2.8 which is basically very normal, yet you kill us dead on the online races...even those with a better w/kg figure.

What kind of race times do you get in real races?

You mean you can sustain 365 watt on a bike on the road for a hour? That is impressive and close Vincenzo Nibali, but then he weighs in at around 65kg's.

Pity you're only 34, if you had a bit more experience you could have made the world cup squad:)

If the online race is flat his weight will not matter, it only comes into play under acceleration or on the hills when gravity takes over. Online there is no wind resistance so his body size will not be a factor.

+ 1, have seen it with Tuesdays race, first halve of the race was slightly downhill and I had a hard time keeping up with bigshow, then the climb started and with less effort I was able to slowly pull away.

Being on the crap BMI side of the scale I often wondered whether we get the benefit of being heavier on the downhills....

Good points

Weight is still a factor even on a flat or downhill, not as much as on an uphill or when accelerating but it still takes effort to maintain speed. I would hope that the software clever math (algorithms) would account for ALL the variables i.e. air resistance?

Maybe we should ask Cycleops to add a height measurement in the personal profile LOL

I don't think they do at the moment...just kidding

I find the downhill's on the online races harder than downhill in real life, struggle to keep my cadence high and the effort does not seem to match the output watts

I guess in real life we can feel when we hit 60 to 80km/hr downhill. Half your brain is saying YES, the other half is saying "are you nuts".

On the trainer it's always "straight" and the only indication is a speed number...not the same thrill, but as you say, still have to work hard an keeping the speed up without relief of easing the cadence.
