Thanks guys, will be joining on Tuesday then, riding my nearly finished tyre at low pressure until I can source something else!

Just another noob question, if I get another wheel but it has a different cassette with fewer than the current 10 gears, won't it have problems fitting in the frame ie I will need spacers or so?

Remember that a normal road wheel is also 29". Get a cheap road tyre from Solomons - should work. Different cassette (8/9 speed) needs a different chain also.

I just did the Hub Cup #3 route. I hope I am still stuffed from yesterday's (swak) race - I bled. In true TT fashion you will have to pace yourself. Heads up to the PC boys (and Gals) there is a video so download the previous day.

How much will this set me back?

Just sitting on the IDT watching TV is killing me..

The bluetooth powerbeam pro is anything from R10500 to R11700 depending on your negotiating skills then you just need a ipad or android tab and off you go. A pc with windows 8 and BT 4 will also do the trick. The ANT+ powerbeam is about R500 more if you want to go that route.

You can do virtual routes and races with some of the cheaper cycleops trainers + speed/cadence sensor it just don't adjust resistance as you ride. I think you're looking at around R5-6000.

Send Dave a PM @ PowerTap, he'll get you sorted. Best cycling investment you'll ever make!

R10,5k for the BLE version from complete cyclist. Includes the speed / cadence sensor but not a HR belt. Use your existing iPad or notebook.

If you want the trainer to adjust resistance, then about 11500 - otherwise you can run with a speed and cadence sensor on your existing trainer - just need to hook it to your laptop/ipad - either via Bluetooth or ant+ depending on what your speed and cadence sensors send - you might need a dongle at around 750 - (and maybe speed/cadence sensors if you don't have Bluetooth or ant+ ones already)) and the monthly software fee - under 10USD a month. I am planning to run with an ipad using an ant+ dongle and my Cyclops power meter on my wheel - won't give adjustable resistance, but I can live with that in the short term while I see if I like it.

Not entirely correct...he would need one of the following trainers...reason is they have a known power rolldown for this app so speed can be calculated.

Question for Dave. On the PC version, is there a way to download only the data and not the video for the races that have video attached and still use it on the race night?

The Wahoo Kickr does not require a rear wheel  . Be warned however its resistance is higher than the power beam trainers

@Dave: I have (eventually worked out that I have 2 accounts). The data from the Ipad doesnt reflect on PC etc. is it possible to merge them? Also I want to change my username - possible?

Hi Fand

Yes it does take rider weight into account...here is a rough explanation of how it determines your speed on a course

Rider weight + Bike Weight + current slope = Speed

This means that your wheel might be spinning at 20km/h but your output speed on the screen is 15km/h as an example. This makes it as fair as possible on everyone. Now of course people can cheat the system and input a weight of 55kg whilst they eating away on pies, but they only cheating themselves. My bike weight and physical weight exactly matches what they are in real life

Regarding the weight issue. The app should show the riders weights for everyone to see. I am assuming everyone racing has a friend who knows his weight so if he lies it will be picked up eventually......... For example I know Frosty and if he lies about his weight I will kill him dead :nuke: . Rouxtjie knows Dave etc......
