Hi everyone. Yet another "Which bike should i get" thread.

I am about to buy my first bicycle in a very long time.

There are so many options out there.

Wheel sizes, different components, new vs second hand, its all very confusing.

I am not a pro rider and it will be my first time on a bike in about 10 years so i don't need pro equipment, but i also don't want to buy rubbish.

I would like do some road and trails.

To my surprise i found 2 bikes at the Sportmans Warehouse which seem good and are end of line so discounted quite a bit. I cant find any reviews online for them and im hoping the more qualified people on this forum to guide me into a good decision.

I can get this bike for R5000 brand new

I really don't want to be spending more than that for my first bike.

Which of those two do you think is the better value?

Maybe you have another option around that price?

Thanks Dale.

Guess i will go with the Schwinn...more expensive must be better...

Then again i probably wont notice the difference between the two bikes, so go with the cheaper one...

Sigh :(

go with the Schwinn...even better, or shop around for a 2nd-hand bike on the hub. R5k will buy you a LOT 2nd-hand (in 26' wheel size).

Thanks for the feedback.

Any reason why you would recommend the Schwinn?

After reading up a lot it seems like the components are kind of similar on both bikes.

The Schwinn does have extra bling like a remote lockout for the fork. Is that something useful to have or a gimmick?

I have been checking the classifieds but haven't found anything decent close to me. Plus buying new just gives a bit more peace of mind.

Schwinn for the win. Remote lockout is handy, lock it on those long steep up hills. IMO just a luxury gadget you don't really need on an entry level bike... Good luck, and welcome to the hub!
