Ahh, found it.  It was the one and only princess.

Now I was in the B bunch that year and the ladies started with the masters.  We caught the ladies on the Kommetjie road and I remember the race commisioner order the ladies to let us pass and stay back until we finished passing them.  A group of ladies however to did however break and stick to the B bunch.  Guess who was in that bunch and did not complain when she won.

Didnt Anke ride away in 2004 with two vets to win.... over suikerboisse?

as for racing with the men the top wemon have proved that they are well able to do so, the best girl will still reign supreme. Anke and Cherise are testiment to it.

FINE RESULTS BEATING THE BEST OF THE VETS................

As for anyone saying that the the girls could win with a break away/ TT effort.... look over the results of wemons racing and tell me the last person to win a race in that style.... before you mention yolandai du toit in 05 94.7......

And you are right, that was the same year that a fellow PE rider stayed with her the whole race, make your own conclusions.

"Princess". I feel like puking every time Johny Koen says it.

I feel i should put this here' date=' just because Cherise kicked Anriette's ass.

This is really annoying. What more excuses are going to told to justify her 3de position? The truth is that she was beaten by a better lady. Actually 2.

This is really funny reading this, it is exactly what I said yesterday she was going to use as an excuse.....LOL oh so funny

maybe the ladies must have their "Argus" race on a competely different day altogether

What was so amazing about this young lady is the way she won. She enjoyed it like a kid though when she had that interview it was as a grown up. No wonder this girl likes her cycling so much. It shows...

....and sunday was not a show like some I know. It was a moment of pure adrenaline enjoyment.

like they say" RESPECT...!!

something that stood out for me was the maturity that she actually rode amongst the men, didn't get intimidated at all by their presence....that is gutsy and brave....and the fianl result showed it....Thumbs%20Up

Cherise is the best thing to happen to woman cycling.Clap

Thanks to Belgium Boy for sending her overseas, riding for Konica Minolta did her a world of good.

I cant think that the ladies like starting with men - it messes their race up completely' date=' and basically takes out all the tactical elements of their race. Sure, they ride a better time, but breakaways are almost impossible (so no breakaway/TT specialists can do well). [/quote']

bull***

Anke ( think it was the first on back over chappies after the detour) broke away and tt all the on her own.

It can be done.

A couple of years ago the ladies were in C with the men, and when we got to the bottom of Chappies, they left us like we were looking for parking. Anke being the main instigator. I think she went on to win. I learned a lot about ladies racing that day, and just how strong they are.

Maybe you should ask the vets if they WANTED the women to just stuff up up their race. My brother was in the race and he thought it was the biggest load of crap. How can the GUYS have a fair race race if the women are in the way the whole time. Some of them don't even have bike skills. He almost got taken out by an unstable MTN girl with short hair. (He's not sure who she was). And that is exactly the reason why a BRILLIANT prospective Cape Epic winner's chances are now in doubt, due to the STUFF UP in the sprint. Yolande de Villiers would have creamed the competition in the Epic, now what? Never mind the women. What about the men? They should have a survey...

Euraquila, you have a VERY interesting link there! Just a HUGE pity this faceless deamon site consists of a lot of faceless critics that feels that breaking innocent people down makes them feel powerful.

Like they say: the human is the only animal that enjoys the downfall and failure(suffering) of its own kind.

So by the way, how do you dethrone someone who is not the defending champion?

Congrats Cherise!!!!Thumbs%20Up

This girl is an inspiration for all cyclists, her whole image and smile shows she is into this sport 100%

Well Done!!!

I was in that bunch and the joining together was unfortuante with many very hairy moments. It took a lot of guts for the girls to ride near the front to stay out of danger. There were at least 2 crashes before we hit Chappies. Chappies sorted out most of the chaos, including me......Well done Cherise....great riding!Thumbs%20Up

What saddens me is this. ladies get there own start group, but then 2 or more teams organise to go with the mens bunch if they come past!!!!

So, what happened to ladies not sitting on mens wheels.......thats pathetic from those teams!!!!!!! They are strong enough to race there own race and win it! Go and do it then in style!!

Under the circumstances, well done taylor chick for taking the win!

A ladies only bunch sprint in South-Africa happens almost in slow motion, racing with the men is much better for practicing gnarly bunch sprints so when the ladies do get the opportunity to ride overseas they will be prepared for it. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Taylorchic is a fierce competitor and not afraid to mix it up with the boys she took a chance to go early in the sprint and it paid off.

You should have seen her last year at the Bakwena Classic, one of the few ladies who stuck with the men the WHOLE course.ClapClapClap

She's got BIG ones this Taylorchick(pun intended)

Sal altyd vir jou skree pop jou onskuldige liefde vir fietsry het dit 'n hele nuwe dimensie gegee. MOET NOOIT DIT VERLOOR NIEClapClap

Congrats !!!Saw her interviews on TV news (2 stations),one in Afrikaans and one in English.Great ambassador for the sport and fluent in both languages!

Would the mixing with the men not be lessened it the ladies bunch had to start 2 mins behind the elites?(Giro guys)That would give them a 13 min buffer before the racing tandems and it would be easy to control a "no tandem interference" rule.I also doubt if any of the Vets or other bunches would catch them before the finish.

The men in the ladies bunch does bring a different dynamic to their race..
