Good Day,

I am currently in the market for a new mountain bike.

The AXIS A40 seems like a good option, so does the Silverback Sola4 (Similarly priced)

Any Advice? Maybe another bike altogether?

Regards

Both good. Only recommendation would be to try and find something with an air fork. It is ALWAYS* worth it.

*Disclaimer: On entry level bikes I mean, not the Ferrari's of coil forks :P

R7000, any suggestions? Regards

The Sola 4 has a thicker frame. I have the Sola 1 and its awesome. Very responsive. How do they compare components wise? Air shock is better than Coil spring, Slx is better than Deore and this list can go on. Do you do short rides or long rides or both. Do they have 2 or 3 blades in front?

Thanks guys for the advice. I meant to type R 7 000 to R 8 000,. Both have the air suspension, and similar Shimano Components. I do more on-road cycling and raced but prefer a mountain bike to a road bike. Any recommendations? How will a smaller wheel size compare to 29er if mostly cycling on road?

Stick to 29er. Its faster. run the tyres to the max. Take the bike that weighs the least. Edited by Smurfy

if you want to consider used rather than new http://www.thehubsa....9-momsen-al129/

Is 10spd whereas the bikes you were looking at are 8 and 9sp, looks like deore/SLX components which are good, you can always upgrade as they wear out.

Ride for a while and save up to change the XCM fork at a later date to a lighter air fork.

All prices are neg ;) and you will have some left over to get it serviced so you have peace of mind when riding!

Hi. I have upgraded from 26 to 29 and takes getting a bit used to but is worth it. I was looking at the Sola 4 but bought the Sola 3 which is about 1-2k more. For that you get a lighter bike with better components and a better air shock. I am happy with it.
