Hi

I must decided between the above mtb. The Axis is a 26er with some Deore derailers and the Oryx has Alivio and is a 29er. Both have the same Hydraulic brakes.

Bike will be use mainly with family but will take it out on weekdays just to break away from the road training and I might do a race now or then but mtb won't be my main focus. Both bikes cost the same.

I think if you are just going to casually ride and so, you can go with the 29er they roll easier and is generally better at handling longer distances because they roll easier, in general normal riding.

I would go with the 29er, they just ride smoother and easier. But this might just be my opinion.

Not familiar with those brands, but have a mate who bought an Axis road bike, who rides at our club. After a wipeout it buckled rather easily and it weighed a freaking ton. Not my opinion, just hearsay! Now if you can go to your local bike shop, say Linden Cycles ( I use them and know they rent bikes and allow rides on 2nd hand or demo bikes) get a feel for a bunch of different bikes and select based on ride feel. If you can budge the budget and are willing to take a chance with a 2nd hand bike here on the Hub, I do own a GT Zaskar and they are often on here for R7000-R9000. Just check the seller reputation, take a friend along that knows bikes and be patient

Currently own a FS 29er Axis and really enjoy riding it.

Remote lock on the front shock is a bonus

+1

Edit: also the Scott guys are pretty jacked with after sales service.

I have never heard of Oryx. is there website or something that you know of. Also is there any form of warranty or after sales service with it?

Are you sure about the Axis specs as the A60 was not speced with anything Deore and If I recall, the Axis also came out with mecanical discs, not hydraulic.

Also I cannot agree with Raydec regarding Scott's after sales service. There have been enough complaints about it on the Hub.

Considering the spec you have quoted, I would also take the 29er.

I must be the lucky one then... :w00t: :w00t:
