Trek Superfly BB95 problem

I took the crank off my Trek Superfly and the drive side bearing came out with the crank,
Looks like the BB95 is a press fit, the bearing simply presses straight into the carbon frame, the problem is the bearing has rotated and with some miles the carbon frame cup designed to hold this bearing has increased in size allowing the bearing to float around.
This must be a very common issue if the bb does not have a metal shim or similar.
in the interim my LBS have epoxied the bearing into the frame, but this is a temp solution.
any experience of this out on the hub.

I have the same bike and the same problem. I also used to work in a shop that sold Trek's.

Warranty is a sticky issue as this issue is really a design flaw as if you are on a long muddy ride/race and the bearing seizes you are up $h!t creek.

The company that brings Trek into the country used to bring in over-sized bearings that were 37.1mm instead of 37mm.

As the Trek agency has changed hands 3 times in the last little while everything is up in the air at the moment and I have heard rumors that Trek are pulling out the country.

As for a solution you can order an over-sized kit from RWC scroll down to the bottom and pick your quality.

or As I have done Wrap the bearing extremely tight in a few layers of insulation tape and then press it into the frame. I have been running mine like this for about 3000km's without a problem.

As for wrapping the bearing make sure the insulation tape covers the outer bearing race 50/50 once wrapped a few times cut and test fit, if still loose redo with more tape.

Make sure the tape does not touch the inner bearing race as the bearing will have drag till it wares away, you can trim it with a stanley knife but make sure you leave enough to cover most of the bearing seal.

Then press into the frame it should be tight, once in the frame to can trim the outer tape flush with the outer bearing race.

the bearing should look like this.

what Spoke said kan work, or what you can do is go down to engenering shop and ask if the have copper shimming that you can wrap around the bearing, or a red bull can can work to, by cutting it and use it as a shim around the bearing holder and pres it in again. then there is pice of alo between the holder and corbon frame.

WOW. so trek have issues, wrapping the bearing of a R35K bike in R3 insulation tape may be a solution and I thank you for your advise but surely this manufacture would have woken up and learn from this lesson and improved there frames

They have apparently fixed it in the 2015 frames by putting a titanium (?) cup for the bearing rather than straight carbon. I'm sure you could claim as a warranty though (irrespective of 1st or 2nd owner) as it is a design fault - possibly do some research on your protection in terms of the CPA. IMO they should recall the frames if it is such a common problem (I saw the exact same problem on another bike 2 weeks ago).

To set the record straight, Trek are not pulling out of the country, they have just elected to align themselves with a better equipped distributor. Contact info@darkhorsebrands.co.za

Also, the BB tends to seize especially when cleaned with high pressure hoses. Though this is not always the case. Trek has remedied this by placing a titanium cup in the BB in the 2015 range.
