DieVlieg Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Here in Gauteng the sand gets purposely replaced with rocks just to justify having any suspension at all. Looks like some fun though. Will remember to bring my road bike with
Yo-Yo Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Well done to all involved. Great effort and has made that part of the trail super rippable. Rode it a little before the improvements and it was always felt like training. Not
Nick Posted September 5, 2014 Author Posted September 5, 2014 I was on the mountain this morning and took this quick video of the completed trail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtP9btc5Pp0&
kandui Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Lekker! Last night, 20 of us came down the trail as another group of 12 waited at the bottom to ride up. Godzilla 1
nonky Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 nice work - thanks to all involved. perhaps, I will now be able to actually RIDE up that part of TMtn.
Redlight Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Can someone post a Google map of the start and finish.
Tubehunter Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Good job to all involved! Certainly has made the track more rideable than before, which was impossible to do with any pace and pick your lines! Anyone go down on the gravel road between the two sections yet? The sand is all loamy and full of traction in the berm sections but the last berm finishes before the corner is done and you move off this onto gravel with much less traction when you take the right fork and try connect the 2 runs together. (Can't imagine anyone wanting to go left there and back to the tar road??)
GuyOnBike Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Are there any group rides that happen here during the week after work hours - starting 4/5 pm. Have relocated my job to new lands just below the memorial and would be keen to ride there once a week after work. Alternatively are there any clubs that do this?
Tubehunter Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Best to just find someone cruising by at the bottom gate and ask them if you can join them for their effort. Was a chap who used to post his Tuesday and Thursday afternoon rides up but he has been quiet for a while now.

I commute over from Vredehoek side, there's guys i see who commute from the opposite direction, or the way i assume you wanna come up from. Doubt they hubbers though
Amped Portable Power Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 In a nutshell: riders complained about the condition of the trail to San Parks. San Parks contacted TMB and I put forward a proposal of how the trail can be made user friendly. My proposal was accepted by San Parks and I got a quote from Ace of Spades for the work. Monday they moved in for 3 days worth of work which will be completed in about half an hour's time.Pretty simple really once permissions are given.TMB will maintain the trail, but I am sure San Parks will provide assistance if asked. These are our local trails and they have become even more fun since the upgrade! Thanks Kandui, Ace of Spades and others involved. Your work is very much appreciated and doesn't go unnoticed...

eelvio Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Is this the only bit of single track on the mountain at this stage? Is there a new map that is available or some way I can look at a nice route to go over from Woodstock to Bottom gate of Rhodes Mem and vice versa?
