@Droo,  I'm with you on the "lower" end Fox Evolution CTD forks, but how does a Fox F29 FiT (CTD, trail adjust, Kashima, etc) compare to the "higher" end Rock Shox (SiD XX) forks?

Which are the better fork on the high end range?

I'm guessing you're looking at a 100mm 29er, in which case the biggest difference is small bump sensitivity - Fox takes it by a good margin in my experience. The compression damping settings won't make a massive difference, especially if you're looking at an RCT3 or Blackbox damper which has all the adjustment you'll ever need. XX just adds a hydraulic remote lockout, which gives you 2 positions (open and platform/lock) instead of the 3 (open / adjustable low speed / lock) on the RCT3 damper.

The rest is maintenance related.

How "bad" is the Fox Evolution CTD?

Zero adjustability, underdamped and made of plastic and soft cheese. Single stage rebound damping. Again, on shorter travel you won't notice the difference as much, but if you've got one I'd advise not riding a Factory model unless you're ready for an upgrade. Once you know, you know.

Longer travel - bleh.

@droo, TX for the info.

Last question.... 29er 100mm:

2015 SiD RCT3 or
2015 Fox Factory FiT with/trail adjust, etc..

Or... 2015 Reba RL? Would the average weekend warrior be in a position /or have the skill to know the "difference" between a Reba and SiD?
