Carbon damage - Repair?

Chain got caught between chainstay and cassette and it looks like a layer of carbon got ripped out.

Should this be repaired or can I ride it like it is?

(I think I know the answer)

You can have it repaired, and DO NOT ride it "raw" like that.....clean it and put some sticker over it if you want to use it till it is repaired.....to keep the water and dirt of the carbon

Just cover it with clear nail polish, ride it, but frequently inspect

I have repaired lots of cases like this. Sand it smooth and soak it with hobby grade superglue - the really low viscosity stuff. Sand again and then apply 3/4 ounce fibreglass with superglue. Keep sanding and finally give it a shot of clear coat.

Good luck

Thanks, where can I get the hobby grade superglue and fibreglass?

Do you just sand it with a fine (around 250/300?) sandpaper?

Is hobby grade superglue the trade name of the glue ? Can you explain what you mean by "apply 3/4 ounce fibreglass "? Is the fibreglass in liquid form? Very useful tip. I will appreciate your reply.

Bad idea as superglue means nothing when it gets wet. Superglue with fibreglass? ? Uhm if you want to have it repaired rather do it properly with carbon fibre and the correct resin and hardner. With superglue and fibreglass you are just fooling yourself and you could have rather just sanded it smooth and put some clear over it as it will do the same job.

Nothing

Does water not affect "raw exposed": carbon?

I am no expert, but I think that because the resin has already been applied the carbon would not actually be totally raw...its just one or two layers of the carbon that was damaged, therefore there will be more layers which are still in tact.... I might be wrong!
