Nissan Trailseeker #5

Hmmm, I see the officials did not record my change in batch (I started later to ride with a friend) and now my time is +15 mins. Does anyone know if you can e-mail Jumpertrax to get that sorted?

I did indicate to an official before starting that I'm going into a later batch and though they had adjusted the records.

I know all queries had to be done before prize giving. Not sure how steadfast that rule is if it's got nothing to do with the prize's.

I thoroughly enjoyed the half this morning! My best race of 2014 so far. Had an extra couple of Bavaria 0%s to miss the traffic.

I think today was the most punctures and lost water bottles I've seen in a race. There was literally someone fixing a puncture on every corner and a pile of water bottles down every descent.

And we'll done to the guy who rode a couple of Km to get to the tech station with only one crank. Now that's dedication!

Eish, lost crank! Thats rough.

I saw a guy at about 12km to go on the marathon who lost/broke his saddle. When I passed him he was busy modifying his water-bottle saddle with a discarded 2L coke bottle.

Best solution for the water bottles flying is to get a proper bottle cage, those cheap alloy cages just don't hold them.

Can't comment on the sand or not, but as a motivator, looks like you will have to do a 1:50 ish time for this one to get you a 44 ish index result. This is a 'scientific' thumb suck based on the following:

1. It has been mentioned that this is similiar to the Curro race, where a 1:50 earned you a 43-44 index.

2. Based on the seedings for this race you  need at least a 44 to get into C batch.

Also keep in mind that the other guys are also improving, so you probably need to do a lot better to make such a jump in seeding using just one race....but what do I know, you might be one of those semi pro ninjas of the cycling world!

Must say, Race wonderfully organised , No bottlenecks except at first watercrossing , but managed to cut in front of people getting of their bikes, had to slow down a few places but anticipated to have much more problems.

Also not sure if I am a Ninja as I am no Pro cyclist but managed to get 1:43 so hopefully I get to start a bit earlier next time.

Had a great day out on the half, managed 1:38:04,no problems out on the trail. My SO on the other hand,2xpunctures and issues with the chain dropping whenever she downshifts at the front. Thnx to the rider who helped her with a bomb on the second puncture. On a kind of a rant note, she did mention to me that she came across another female rider from the A batch that fell, not being able to get up. A lot of riders just ignored her plea for help, and my SO literally had to stop a rider for help. Come on guys,if you see a injured rider, just a little help will suffice, one day you might take a serious tumble, and other riders may ignore you as well.

Agree, the race or your performance is not more important than a fellow rider. 95% of us are amateurs so by the time we finish the main sponsors are having snacks and a beer. Similar to passing riders in areas where it is not safe.......for you and/or the rider you are passing. Saw some dof riders who should rather go fly a kite........and usually they are also the biggest moaners.

Same problem. SAS board 35398. I request one of the women with their boards write down my number as the guy with the wand was swamped by cyclists. Still not listed.

Awesome race, managed my first sub-3 marathon  Better than last year as well, had a biiiiiig crash, so happy to stay on my bike this time round.

Traffic was always going to be chaos, so rather chilled at the club gazebo, made for a fun day out.

Now for the 94.7 in 2 weeks time :D

I wish I had a photo of the lost crank situation. I was stuck behind a slower rider when, out the corner of my eye, I noticed a rider towing someone  with a tube rope (the kind you see the pro riders use in the 94.7 to tow the ice-cream cart) with this chap behind him peddling with one leg and sort of push-running with the other... coming past me (yes, I'm not the fastest out there).

I thought to myself at the time that surely they'll only continue for a while like that but I actually saw them again at the Torque Zone tech station probably 5-7km on. So well done on dedication and on helping out a mate.

I'm hoping the guy who created a new saddle out of a water bottle posts on the "There, I fixed it" thread. I'd love to know how that worked out.

Anyone know what the deal is with getting a shirt if you complete all 5 races that fall part of the series?
