  1. They also have online workshops (theoretical)
  2. https://www.torqzoneacademy.com/
  3. With a good quality tool set, and some knowledge, you can do a lot of things yourself. You can even enroll in a bike mechanic workshop/course, and service your own bike. Do the math, and you will find that in the long term, you save a lot of money, and learned a new skill set.🍻
  4. Did you perhaps buy it from someone in Oudtshoorn....?
  5. So it being Friday and all, who else is getting super low-balled by Webuycycles? They are seriously irritating with their stupendous offers, and it makes me wonder if anybody can take their offers seriously.
  6. Oh but they are there, "upgrading" software, de-restricting their Ebikes, to claim a podium where there is only 2x riders🤦
  7. Just another 2c regarding social media( to which strava is leaning heavily towards). Most people just want to be liked and admired, where previous years a person would only wanted to be liked/admired by his/her immidiate audience, now that same person wants to be liked by 16xmillion people, and would go to extremes to achieve the goal. On FB reels you find girls exposing themselves, only to be liked. Strava-holes motor-pace segments, ride them with E-bikes ect to achieve that glorious KOM badge to receive kudo's galore, post them on IG and FB to get further recognition and praise. Then if another person "steals" the KOM, sometimes legitimately, the ride is being " flagged", or the rider is Doping, being lambasted.
  8. Kind of understand where she is coming from. Not every ride is a race, and not every ride is social. It is nice and lekker to ride with a group that like to have a chat today, coffee stop mid ride, and then the same group agrees that tomorrow is hammer day. It sucks though to join a group ride, and that one person makes a race out of it,just to beat a strava segment, then flag your ride when he bombed-out. Anyhow, be a lekkawaan, not a akkedoos🍻
  9. You also get pawl/spring replacement kits if you want to replace it. Then with regard to cleaning and lubing, I found Glue devil GD2 to work like a charm, cleans like a proper degreaser, and lubes as well (silicone). Side note: I regularly remove and clean my cassette and freebody, never had any issues with regard to the use of GD2, but that is my personal experience.
  10. Just do it,found a awesome deal on a 60mm carbon rear, and it alone makes a HUGE difference. Spoil yourself🍻
  11. I am calling on fellow Bikehub member tonight, hoping and praying for the support of the following initiative "Ironman For Nature". The initiative allows athletes to participate in a Ironman event by raising funds for the Wildlife Foundation. Proceeds go to the conservation of Rhino's and the Cape penguin colonies, as well as education in rural communities with regard to wildlife conservation. Currently we are 12xatheletes tasked with raising funds individually, with a personalized Givengain page link. Part of the initiative, is a Lumo green Trisuit, with space for sponsors, which are also advertised on the Ironman for nature page, and the sponsor(s) are also able to claim back from SARS via a 18(a) Tax certificate that are being issued. We as athletes are not handling any money, we are only tasked to raise the funds, and sweat our asses of on the day. I am entered for the Mosselbay 70.3 Ironman on 19 November 2023, and am wishing to involve the Bikehub community as a whole, representing Bikehub on my Trisuit, but this will only be possible with contributions from the BH community, and permission from Matt&co. Every bit will help, Please follow the link for more information, and leave me a message if more info is needed... https://www.givengain.com/ap/corrie-kuilder-raising-funds-for-wilderness-foundation-africa/#timeline
  12. Go to your local Midas, get yourself a M.V timing belt. Remove your current belt and take it along. Replace the belt, set the tension, and trainer will be as good as new👍
  13. I have been using half coca-cola and half water for training, and it works like for me. It contains sugar and sodium.
  14. So I have a chance of doing the Weymouth 70.3 in September due to my sis in law getting married, it will be my first IM, and Mosselbay will be my second. How is the course in comparison to Mosselbay? It is still 5xmonths away, so I will have to look at renting a wetsuit and bike for the day, will it be worth all the efforts?
  15. That is true, and should something happen, in a civil and/or criminal case, it is found that the person is in fact a registered business owner, that owner can be held liable, because any business owner/dealer that is registered in terms of the act, must have a register if items are bought from another person. The owner/dealer then must declare to any potential buyers that the item is indeed second-hand ( not "as good as new" or "Demo" ect). This goes for Bicycles in whole, components and accessories. Other than the Consumer protection act, the Second-hand goods purpose is also to protect buyers of second-hand goods, and to regulate the movement of second-hand goods through businesses. Anyhow, dealers just need to be aware of this, and I hope Matt & co are also aware of this.
  16. I have a question for admin, and hope it will be answered. BH being a public forum, and platform for goods being sold by dealers ect, how many dealers comply with the second-hand goods act 6/2009, whereby any registered business owner must have a certificate for dealing in second-hand goods. This is also a way to protect potential buyers from buying stolen and or suspicious goods. Do admin request some sort of proof that dealers are registered, and that they actually have a Certificate for dealing in second-hand goods, because Bicycles and any part thereof are considered Schedule 1 goods. shg_act_6_2009.pdf
