Then again no other team would work with them. So either they burn all their matches getting their man into contention or they give up the chase.

Was wondering if that would happen.... Pity but sort of make sense.

I was actually thinking what the other teams would say if Porte ended up winning. "How can Orica help them but not us" type of thing.

The riders know the rules hey?.. I am not saying lekker.. it may not be a nice rule but it is still a rule

Well let me show my ignorance. I didn't even know that it was against the rules to help another team with a mechanical. After all we see them helping out with drinks, food, drafting and even using other team cars to get back into the peleton after picking up bottles and so on.

Clarke won't care he is around 45 min down anyway. Big deal to Porte. I didn't see the incident. How come he didn't have a team mate around to help him? How come he accepted the wheel, surely he knows the rules. After all he cant use the excuse that he is a middle aged photographer, he is a pro cyclist.

Apparently, 5-10 mins is closer application of the rule

Softened conditions because it's their first offence, according to media reports

It's a fair rule indeed.

If certain teams exercise patriotic allegiance to another team, like Aussie-based OGE to Tasmanian Porte, then it's an unfair advantage over other teams.

Plus Richie could've swopped bikes quickly if wheel replacement was too tough on the clock.
