But they must have an internal schedule at least they are working with ..... those trucks don't just arrive at a drop of a hat. There is some rather decent logistics they are dealing with, so should be planning their work .... if they are not, then they will never be profitable no matter where the site is!

That's exactly it, those trucks and machines are already here, it would be more expensive to cart away and bring them back. There's more.. space at the depot in the harbour is another factor, this has a bearing on rate of removal..

Look, I am not CP nor TMNP. I can only tell you what info I have gathered through discussions dating back several years. So far no one has lied, least of all Botes who was a forester for 40 years. He told it like it was... he was the first to predict an early exit.

Tactical blunder putting in the person's email address in there. Someone might spam her inbox with complaints....... Not that I'd ever suggest such a thing.

Remove the word blunder and replace with masterstroke in your post and you may be on to something.

I've just Googled Tarcia Hendricks Sanparks. She's displayed it on the front end of the website, on all the media releases. So it's not really a problem...

So you are saying trucks will be there indefinitely till 2017/2024 ? and harvest willy nilly without letting anyone know?

That is what I get out of that

Oh yeah I forgot what about those destructive sods that push prams around there? That's twice as many wheels therefore twice the damage.

I fully expect to see parents hammered with huge increases for their unfettered pram pushing abuse of our natural resources.

That's an understatement of note...

So by all accounts, my 2 1/2 year old needs an activity card as well. Feckit.

Correct. Things to consider is:

The youngest age for an activity permit.

Youngest age for participation in MTB.

Type of bike.

(Edit) Type of pram

Right now there is very little that points to a carefully considered decision. Somehow I think that it is not really a rule, if it is not part of the press release then how can anyone possibly claim to have been informed through the correct channels. This will be the most common excuse until Parks are forced to put it on the website, in the newspapers, on FB, even inform the ticketing dept..

Good Morning

After reading about the harvesting in Tokai ,I gave MTO in Grabouw a call 2 minutes ago. They are the concession holder in Tokai.

I spoke to Aubry Thomson, Tel: 021 8595298.

Question: Do you own the concession on Tokai

Answer: Yes

Question:Where do I find out about the harvesting schedule for Tokai

Answer: Speak to Sandra Hollerman

Question: San Parks say they are as surprised about the harvesting as the cyclists are. Are you sure they don't know about your schedule.

Answer: I sent Sandra the 6 year harvesting schedule for Tokai up to 2020. I sent it to her last week.

Question: So you're not pulling out around 2017?

Answer: No, 2020.

The person I spoke to says it takes about 3 weeks to harvest a parcel and they don't change their plans at short notice.

I thought it best to get the info from the horse's mouth, rather than speculate about it.

It seems like San Parks know about the harvesting and it may have been prudent of them to inform users.

Harvesting entails using heavy machinery and can pose a danger to users with vehicles moving on the roads and debris lying all over the place.

reckon having the position of public relations at sanparks means you have a thick skin and a really wild inbox. some grumbling from a few mtbers is not going to affect either!

IIRC, MTO no longer exists, now known as Cape Pine (but apparently yankee pine would be more fitting)

I'm going with the ignorance card on this one until I am properly informed by Sanparks.

Wrong I know but hells teeth that is a stupid rule.

I forgot to mention that Mr Thomson said that once a compartment has been harvested, they hand it back to San Parks.

He was quite adamant that MTO inform San Parks in advance about impending harvesting. I can't imagine that they can decide ad hoc to harvest an area. It would take a considerable amount of planning (assigning crews and vehicles, getting trucks to come and collect logs, etc).
