Wines2Whales Partner needed urgently

Hi guys,

So the time has arrived for me to do my first stage race. I've been lucky enough to win an entry to Wines2Whales RIDE (3 - 5 November, Monday to Wednesday) in the competition in the weekend papers.

Unfortunately, my regular riding mate is out for a few weeks with a bad knee, and I don't know many other friends who can do this with me. So I'm opening this up to all you Hubbers.

I'd like to have a bit of a jol with somebody mostly similar to myself in cycling style and age etc. So I'm going to be putting a few requirements here which I hope nobody takes offense to:

I'm 25, a guy, based in Cape Town in the South so Tokai is my playground. I am generally a relatively quick rider, but my fitness just needs a bit of work work. I go quite quickly up the climbs, but I'm gonna take this race a bit more chilled and slower, cuz I just want to really enjoy it.

So I'm look for a potential riding buddy that fits this profile:

Between 20 and 35 years old.

In relatively good shape, but certainly not podium chasing or anything. Somewhere in the middle of the field.

Based in Cape Town, preferably the South. We will need to go on a few training rides together.

Guys and girls welcome to contact me.

If you know of somebody who fits the bill, please let me know.

Please contact me on my cell (082 041 0705), or email me at h.rossenrode@gmail.com, or just reply to this topic. I'll be online all day. I have to get this entry finalised today, so timing is quite urgent.

p.s. Oh, forgot to mention the obvious: because I won this entry, your entry with me will be free of course

Well I was debating that age criteria myself, whether I should include it. I was in doubt because I just thought it would be better if I can really relate to my partner, similar stage in life etc

Maybe I'm overthinking it a bit too much

Perhaps mental age is more appropriate.... probably DQ me as being too young... :)

So i'm 24 and generally a middle of the field rider. I live out Milnerton way but coming out tokai way or if you wanna come ride some of the tygerberg trails shouldnt be a problem.

I would also love to do this race, but I am based in Pretoria. I am 28 and just finished the Isuzu Three Towers Race in the top half of the field but nowhere close to a podium.

I will make a plan to get there. Let me know

Awesome, thanks so much guys. I've gotten quite a few requests so far. Some by phone, some by personal message, and some just posted here in this topic. I'll get back to you all as soon as I can, within the next 2 hours or so.

Hi all,

So I've received about 10 requests to join me on this race. I have chosen a partner, so I'm now super keen to get going. This is going to be awesome!

Thanks to everyone who replied. I hope you all get to ride this race at some point.

Cheers,

Hilton
