Morning Guys

Just a bit of feed back....

So after extending the spring in my derailleur as posted previously i had to find a new derailleur and the proper one quickly.

Instead of going for the zee or the saint i took a xt clutch derailleur with medium cage Shimano XT RD-M786 Shadow+ GS . Installed it on my 30 t with 11x40 cassette setup,

It works Perfect and shifting is crisp. I fitted a sram chain pc1051 and the length was perfect out the box.

Did a 85km on Saturday morning and then a 40km on Sunday at Bottlary as well.

No chain drop, or chain slap as far as i could tell but i do have a slap sock on my chain stay. I also did not use the clutch!

Thought you might appreciate this for those of you who are still in the dark about your decision. Ps the jockey will definitely clear a 42 chain ring as well. There is more than enough setting left on the b screw.

My recommendation is the Shimano XT RD-M786 Shadow+ GS

Cheers

RADICAL IDEA THAT ACTUALLY WORKS:

IF you have a shadow rear der.(shimano only) without the clutch i.e. just shadow then take the der. off the bike take the cage and swing it around to the front then you put tension on the spring and thus the der.becomes vey very stiff(its exactly what the clutch does it just takes more effort)

Trust me you are not damaging the der. at all.

My XT derailleur is now stuffed!!!

Water got into the clutch and it started corroding

It still shifts up and down the full range but when shifting down the derailleur does not tension the chain anymore. Contacted the bike shop where I got it from and they reckon that the clutch should be serviced every 3 months so it's just a heads up to you guys.

The rubber seal seems very thin. I am thinking of putting some gasket maker on the cover to help improve the seal on my next derailleur just to make sure no water gets in there.

Chain Reaction as a pretty good deal on at the moment:

Combining XT & Zee for a Shimano 1x10 setup.

Edit:

Actually they have an SLX combo and Zee combo as well. Usefull for seeing what components work together:
