Craig Slow Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Fun event, cool that you can sleep at home. It is not to be underestimated, quite a lot of climbing on Day 2.

canfan Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 How tough is day 1. I am unsure about doing the 2day or 3 day next year. I know the area relatively well, some of routes are way worse than others.
Craig Slow Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 More details please slow CraigThink 1st day was 1000m climbing over 80km. Day 2 was 1100m climbing over 65km with the last 30km being very tough. Day 3 was an easy (flat) 50kms jawl. Scenery and variety of track is ok, it's Gauteng. Equivalent or better than Trailseeker races.  Race organisation was fine.  You have to be fairly fit to do the 3 day race....
TK-Sp3cialiSt Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Agreed, this years ride was my first mtb ride.(45 days after purchasing my mtb)Â I found day 1 long and grueling, but not tough, just long.Day 2 was what i would refer to as a sufferfest, my team mate was injured from a fall on day 1, i fell and damaged my left hand, so day 2 just took the wind out of my sail.Day 3 was quite a pleasure(just struggled with the left hand)Â Event is pretty well thought out and (IMHO) quite challenging
