you will need to get the Championship, the chips are not interchangeable.

  1. I have contacted that other timing company for a quote (more than once) - not even a reply from them. The last time a quote was received (4-5 years ago), it was a lot (a lot) more - this gets passed onto the riders (sadly).

  2. Not sure how many more people would be attracted to the event if timing was the deciding factor.

Ok thanks for clearing that up. Pretty poor from them from a business point of view. Either way i will be there for my 1st of many probably.

Will be doing this race again as want to know where and how I crashed at 65kms breaking 4 ribs this year... still have no recollection of the accident, so maybe will be a memory jogger!!

I would properbly be trying to forget.

Love this race. Gerald, I really hope you succeed in your negotiations to eliminate those trucks on the R42.

Can't say too much now as it's still ongoing, but most of the trucking companies are transporting coal, so we've approached their customer (no guessing who that is), but they a great help too. Like I said, things are looking positive for that section of road.

Well my lights have been off for three hours tonight, so I guess I can Iive with load shedding during the race.

Disappointing to hear of their attitude. Fair enough hey.

Important (good) news due to be announced relating to safety measures implemented along the route to ensure your safety remains a top priority.

343 entries received to date - up slightly compared to this time last year.

The usual rush takes place around pay-day until the day entries close.

A big thanks to those race organisers willing to share the results from their race(s). This means more data available for accurate seeding calculations.

More about how we will calculate the seeding later this week or next week.

Rule #1 - the customer is king

A quick overview of some safety improvements made for parts of the route.

  • This section will have reduced speed limits, down from 100km/h to 60km/h - temporary road signs will be erected along the route, and enforcement by the traffic department. Extra marshals and traffic officials to ensure traffic is managed efficiently;
  •
  • Eskom's Rosherville Vehicle Services has completed a 14-page risk analysis mitigating all risks on the route, and have given us a written undertaking to keep their contractor's trucks off the road for the duration of the race. They will only start operations from the mines at 12:00.

  • Full road closure from 08:00 - 13:00 from the last turn (1Km to go) on the westbound lane of the R554 up to the finish line.
  • Full road closure from 04:00 - 13:00 from the entrance to Carnival City until van Dyk Road (just after the start).
