Rear shock upgrade on aging Trance

Hi all,

I have a 2006/7 Trance 2 and am looking to breathe new life into my steed. It has a Fox Float R and it's quite 'bobby' and was wondering is there was a newer shock that I could replace it with along the lines of a CTD one? It's 6.5x1.5 IIRC, but the newer ones don't seem to come in that sizing? Am I out of luck and barking up the wrong tree?

Just service your existing one. Easy to do, Linden Cycles or other LBS carry the kit and You Tube will tell how. I think cost was about R350 - 375

The Float R has a permanent propedal setting that should keep it reasonably stable. If the bobbing is a new thing, then a damper service should sort it out. This isn't a service that you'll be able to do at home though, you'll have to send it in.

If you're set on getting a new one, 6.5 x 1.5" is about the most common size there is, and there's plenty to choose from. For my money, a Rockshox Monarch RT3 would be your best option.
