Just came across this article in the Citizen:

 

Selfish cyclists are a big inconvenience.

 

It's a page 7 rant about cyclists. Considering the population of jhb is 750 000, 33 000 constitutes 5% of us, and only happens once a year, surely this event brings more positive than the inconvenience?

 

Take a chill pill losing momentum and come support the ride.

Sounds like a comment from someone I work with would say. They're inconvenienced so it means the whole of Joburg is inconvenienced.

Wow few hours on 1 day out of 365 and were selfish   Even then to say the WHOLE of Jhb is affected, what about the South, West and East where there will be zero closure.

I SO badly want to rip into the author of that letter.. He/she sounds pretty thick, mentioning the 'economic elite' as if NO ONE in the 94 rides and funds the charities of this City/Country. I very much disapprove of the hate that guy is spreading.

What erks me about this article is the ignorance of this motorist. How many riders are doing it for charity. I Am, That's 5k my desired charity would not have had.

Writing in to complain is accepted far quicker over someone writing in to compliment, it's the way of the world.
