R350.00 per annum, for one trail...seems a bit steep aye? Considering what you get with TMTBC membership...

But you have immediate entrance into the wine club :P

Say what??!!!

Thought Tygerberg MTB Club was somehow getting Meerendal included in their annual fees?

As far as I understand, Meerendal is still an option for TMTBC, at least according to the news letters.

As mentioned in the TMTBC newsletter for today, for what it's worth. I am unsure if we are to read anything into the original post with regards to TMTBC members. Might it be that they are planning on giving us the boot next year?

Any comments from Meerendal or TMTBC? Anyone...anyone?

"Maintenance and Queries

Please note: Meerendal have assumed the maintenance and policing of trails on their farm. For any trail maintenance requests for these trails only, please mail matthew@meerendal.co.za .  All other trail requests can be submitted on the club website as per normal.

Over the last week spraying of the Blou Blom (and wild mustard) has started on Meerendal - this is now in line with the farms spay cycle. Spaying will now happen 3 times a year - end of summer, winter and late spring.
During February 2014, Cape Epic Prologue needed more trails. These 4 sections were built during the dry summer months. We knew the area would have a drainage problem - but not to the marsh pit experienced over one of the wettest winters on the farm.
The areas are monitored weekly and are drying out very nicely at last - if the weather holds they will be open mid to end November.

Club Telephone Numbers

Please note that with immediate effect, there is a change in the clubs telephone contact number. The old contact number of 083 825 9394is no longer in existance. For all club queries, the new contact number is 079 693 3177, where Nicky will gladly tend to any query you may have."

Interesting.... I hope it doesn't affect the TMBC members... Not keen to take out 2 memberships, will probably stop riding Meerendal if that's the case.

I also recall that both Prudence and Matthew (emails at bottom) were both TMBC committee members until last year, wonder what's the story there....

Pay per ride instead?

screw it .... if they do want to make the Tygerberg members rider on the farm then I will only go if I take my youngster ... and then maybe even not ....

hope that it does not got that way as the club actually played a pivotal roll in getting the farm up and running as a cycling venue before the epic caught on.

hopefully all this random speculation by us  is completely off the mark

Let's hope so, actually I would be surprised if they go completely on their own, working with Tygerberg Club would be beneficial for all parties involved

This was on the TMBC facebook page on 13 November.

Rod Smith Just heard a rumour that Meerendal will be going on its own. I.e. not fall under tygerberg mtb but have its own membership... It this true or just some k@k (my edit) someone is saying?

Sean Noble There is a lot of rumors flying around, what we can say is we worked out a formula for all our landowners taking various criteria into consideration, i.e our initial investment by the club, the amount of distance, the amount of single track, maintenance by the club, etc etc. (done by some highly intelligent actuary) the principle being that all land owners get compensated fairly and according to a standard model which is sustainable. We have sent our proposal to Meerendal a couple of months ago. They have not yet accepted or officially declined. The Chairman is engaging with them this week to see if they would like to remain part of the trail network based on our proposal. As we get updates we will communicate this to our members.
