Just out interest.

What is the cut-off  policy in the Munga.

Surely they can not sit at the end, 2-weeks later, still  waiting for someone who is  taking their sweet time?

They can not sit at the end after 2-weeks for someone taking their sweet time?

There are no bags :) what you carry is what you have, which makes this so much cooler. No outside assistance at all.

so tim's bike was posted earlier - just a bag on the front.

But what else do you carry if everything else is provided ? If you using a GPS surely you need battery back up ?

You have to complete it in 120 Hrs = 5 days

There are five rest stations along the race route, spaced roughly 200km apart from the start. At each of these stations riders will be able to eat and sleep. Riders do not have to stop at the station or sleep if they don't want to. It is totally up to them.

Apart from the five stations riders will also have access to water points roughly every 50 to 60kms. This is an unsupported race so no rider will be allowed to have support from outside in any physical form. Riders will have access to a mechanical station in each of the 5 stops. Riders will not have access to a bag during the race, only at the finish.

You need lights, lights that don’t die. As long as the wheels are turning your light is burning. A dynamo hub is an essential component of your race strategy if you are going for the prize money. It means you won't have to carry additional batteries, you don’t have to stop and charge your GPS or your phone. This could do it all in one bullet proof package. This could be the difference between winning or losing.

How much kit are you going to ride with? Are you going to go ultra-light, carrying only the bare minimum or do you want to pack for every eventuality? Whichever strategy you choose, you do not want the weight on your back. With innovative, lightweight, and weatherproof bike bags you can configure your adventure any which way you choose.

1000km/120 = 8.33km/hr if you dont stop riding.

factor a 30 min stop every 100km thats 5 hrs for stops, make it total of 25 hrs for stops with sleep and other things then 1000/95 = 10.5 km/hr

which is manageable ... I think, or at least that is what my planning is

another way to do it might be 200km/18 hr day = 11 km/hr

I will figure this out as the planning for next year progress's.
