#RafeeqSafodien will have to decide if he goes all the way back to where they took a wrong turn if he wants to officially finish. Tough!

At least it would have been dark and they would not have to see the same "scenery" again...

That was a +/- 140 km detour for them...

I wonder why Rafeeq did not opt to go back, will he still be able to take part / finish officially

He'll not be an official finisher. That would devalue the finishers medal should they bend the rules in this instance.

yip - so that answers my question above - there is absolutely no way he is going to cycle an extra 300km + to do that

Understood, but i was wondering why he did not turn around like HS and PM just before Victoria West...I'm assuming they must have only then realized their error (maybe a road sign?)

Anyway i think he would not make the cut off at this stage if he retraced his error, tough one considering the detour was not exactly a short cut

Don't think a person can even fathom how hard The Munga MTB is unless you have attempted it  :o Many factors at play here to finish it in 5 days.

I could not even manage to crawl out of my box in the early hours to check their progress, despite leaving the website open on my computer with every intention to check up....

I feel broken for Hannele....she was really steaming ahead.....Hanlie seems to be doing a great job....that will be the girl I cheer for now....I called Grant out yesterday as my favourite to win......I think I will stick to that....as for the guys saying these riders have no idea where who is....they might not know what's going on to the last meter.....but they will have a pretty good idea as to what's going on......forgot to add.....John impresses me a million times over...Baronehugger out....

He is an old 24 hour rider...he might not have done much adventure or ultra endurance stuff......his 24 hour experience will count for plenty....those 24 hour racers that raced in the first 24 hour races are a different breed.....

http://www.yr.no/place/South_Africa/Northern_Cape/Sutherland/not much that side I think. You ride in flat roads from the ceres karoo and then mineshaft it down to the ceres valley. Bainskloof is the final big hurdle right at the death. Imagine a shootout there?! (grant looking good for it now, but lots could still happen)

Weather does not seem to bad in Sutherland. Perhaps get down the escarpment and have a good rest before the climbing starts? I have never done Swaarmoedpas from the Sutherland side. If the climb from Ceres to Klondike is anything to go by, this will be brutal.
