What is it with people riding stuff straight on the spruit.

Wow, speaking of Draconian interventions.

Good thing you did not have your finger on the button during the cold war

Hey man if you've gotta go you've gotta go. May as well make it serve a purpose.

Although the people going "up" the trails is annoying , most of the responses here are correct. It's not your Spruit neither is any part of it technical. It's a Sunday cruise with mates at best. Live and let live.

Love how anyone using strava is assumed to be a line-cutting tard, hell bent on getting that segment time no matter what.

From my experience, the dudes most likely to be doing it are the all-the-gear-no-idea types who aren't cutting corners for the sake of faster times but rather to avoid getting their bikes and fancy outfits dirty. I've seen it many times - puddle of mud with new trail carved next to puddle of mud. Following season - 2 puddles of mud with new trail carved next to 2 puddles of mud...

Prepare yourself..... your time is coming.......

At least the time for testicular issues is over for us older crowd.....

I know. Just hope I don't "dribble" when it gets to that stage.

Maybe because the trails are also used by commuters (and walkers/ joggers) that just want to get to work and aren't really interested in cornering, and flow and all the "fun" stuff - as they just want to get to work / get home asap.

that being said, I have seen walkers/commuters walking wherever the trail goes, following windy corners and over big mounds of sand when there is a much easier route around it.

I know this has been mentioned before in other posts, but I have a much bigger issue with riders going the wrong way on jump lines like Hurlingham and Bundaburg.

There is no way I can see a rider coming up the Hurlingham jump line, and I still haven't mastered the skill of slowing down while airborne.

The first jump of Bundaburg is also quite sketchy, especially when the grass is long. ( Did my first whip this weekend trying to avoid a rider going through the dip.)

I agree with previous posts: Gaps! If someone cannot ride through a ditch , they cannot go up the wrong way.

I concur. Where is Bundaberg?

Occasionally on my long runs I get caught needing a poop a long way from home. If I have to do an emergency boskak I always do it on the corner cutting lines. Dear straight liners.. that's not dog poop that splattered your chin.  ;)

Hahahahaha nice one, will remember that

I often have gripes about behavior on the Spruit, but what I don't understand is why people continuously knock the Spruit as 'not proper' mountain biking. I've ridden a number of trails in the country and the Spruit is always my go-to ride not withstanding the fact that it is close to home. But... on Saturday I managed a 67km with maybe 6 Kms of tar,the rest is pretty much ST and not a district road in site...we threw in delta both ways, Alberts farm and Melville Koppies - so 800m+ ascent and just over 3hrs of good riding. Granted it doesn't have world cup downhill grade technicals, but dependent on how you feel and how fast you do it, you can make it a pretty interesting ride and there are sections down Alberts and Melville that will keep anyone on their toes. And more to the point you can certainly train for most xcm races there...All for FREE and in the middle of one of the largest cities...brilliant!

You're going to get a lot of love from the Spruit rats with this comment.

Cross Jan Smuts going North for less than a km. Then cross the river to the right. You have arrived at Bundaberg.

Oh that's where the Novatec hub saw its gat
