Hello CaptainJack.

You have 6 months to train, make sure you do a lot of uphill training.

The Jock is not for beginners.

Enjoy it, its an awesome race.

Wait... JHB has hillls?????   :whistling:  :whistling:

Just teasing!

Good luck with the training, dont know the race, but what I find helps me out a lot is sprint training(interval) on both hills and flats..

Time and space is my limitation, so this type of training is easily accessible to me, quick 40-60 min session and I am sorted.

You now you're doing it right when you want to vomit at the end... If not, do a few more...

Gets my fitness up quick and stays there if I am consistent with this type of training, then hit long out rides on weekends.

If you ride the Cradle make Sterkies your friend for the next few months :)

Up Sterkies, along Robert Broom, down Hillsnacks, past avianto up to Kloofzicht, then same route in reverse. After that, at least 1 "standard" Cradle lap. You will get good overall elevation on that ride. If I'm not mistaken it will be around 1500m in more or less 110km.

Up Sterkies, Down Sterkies, Up Sterkies Down Sterkies, Up Sterkies down Sterkies, up Sterkies down sterkies..... THATS the solution :)

No seriously, if you do the Lion park loop and a Sterkie or two you can easily do close on 2000m in 5 hours.

Its one day, with 3 stages.

They have a 3 day option as well, it's called The Bestmed Jock Tour. One ITT and 2 stages. Go check out the ASG website.

Take your own food!

 Haha, thanks.

All I can remember is the last 40km into Barberton. That bloody head wind through the valley, o ja, and it was uphill. Small bunches at times, so very little time to "hide and recover" in the bunch. Did it on my moutain bike

To finish the jock you MUST do at least three to four hours a day. At least six days a week and on the seventh day you MUST do ATLEAST six to eight hours minimum. Otherwise you wont finishm GAURANTEED!

Obviously Im kidding.

Good luck. Do Suikerbos a lot.
