North Shore Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 For just over 10k I got a set of Arch EX to Chris King hubs from CWC and I couldn't be happier. I see they don't have any of their hand built wheels up and can only assume that's related to them getting in new stock shortly.

Typically XC means lightweight, which in turn doesn't translate well to taking all and any abuse you throw at it. But if your requirements were presented in order of decreasing priority, then ok. Plenty of good options suggested by the posts above. In that regard, I'll suggest Mavic Crossmax XL WTS. NB: its very much on or just past the upper limit of your budget.

camelman Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 At your weight and on a trance, nothing lighter than the Flow EX mated to whatever hubs you can afford. I am the same weight and have Arch EX on my XC bikes, but don't trust them on any trail bike.

Capricorn Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 or those fancy mavics that capricorn has on his trance... i think they EN823s or something I only know of the 26" EX823, The Bombproof Standard™ IMHO.These new mavics are probably built with the 823s in mind, and at most share the same internal width (23mm), but they are pretty new to the Mavic lineup.

R7k - with tape, valves and cassette....?? Still pondering??
