I wish I had this dilemma for my fist bike. I started on something slightly less expensive, with no suspension. Lol. . But pyga all the way. Better spec, more fun , and it's not a spaz :)

Pyga.

If you are going for a 130mm travel fork anyway, why don't then just go for a PygaOneForty650B?

Throw a Pike into the mix and then...  You have a friggggin awesome bike!

You're not comparing apples with apples.

You're comparing an awesomely specced out trail-orientated bike with a fairly average-specced out Marathon machine (I assume your Spez bike is an Epic).

A fairer comparison would be the Pyga with a Camber Evo with full XT for example.

Also what are you looking to spend?  Those two bikes compared cannot be in the same price range!

What I do know is you can get a Camber Comp Evo (Shimano brakes and X7/X9 drivetrain) with a Reverb and tubeless conversion for R35k.  Good luck getting a simalarly specced PYGA for that price.

Quality wise, no difference.  PYGA is awesome but hardly unique.

I love how everyone just jumps on the bandwagon and assumes, because it is a Spez, it has to be the Epic. If you guys actually take a moment to look at the specs, you will see he is referring to the Camber. The Epic doesnt come with a ctd shock, also the Epic comes with rockshox front forks.

For 40k you will have a carbon bike with the Spez, if thats important to you, to me its very important. The Pyga is a great bike, but I think they are too expensive, my opinion. Also if you are a noob, buy a complete bike, when it comes to warrantees its just much simpler.

Camber Evo comes with a RS Reba.

if he buys the bike from a shop that has put it together he still gets all the warranties with the parts and frame so it makes no difference.

You can never ever ever ever build that Pyga for 40k. Not even if your wife sleeps with the store owner.

Did I miss something - the OP never said what he's planning to spend...

But, it does seem that he is comparing two bikes from different price brackets just based on the specs.

I love my PYGA and am bias but it doesn't seem a fair comparison for the Spez, based on specs...

He still gets the warranties on everything though but you right not for 40k unless they maybe give it to him at cost but that ain't happening. Unless his wife is a supermodel maybe
