Do yourself a favour

Calculate the distance and time needed to come to a full stop on your bike from 81 and 91km/h (without losing control)

Now ask yourself a couple of questions

You need not worry as you cannot be prosecuted on the evidence you presented.

However a CT skateboarder still puts ears on you when he clocked 110km/h a while ago trying to trigger the speed camera going down Kloofnek Drive. He then proceeded to try and convince all and sundry how safe skateboarding is - that was his said aim/purpose.

Also, the origin of the thread was a question based around the videos you've posted. When members here post their answer, to the question you have willingly posted, you have a hissy fit. A special kind of stupid.

Its a bit like having casual sex without a condom or playing Russian roulette, not controversial at all. Just Plain Stupid.

Especially if her husband has had the snip...oops, maybe that's a topic for another controversial thread...sans camera of course

.........I am well aware of the risk. Will I stop doing it? No, because it is within the limits of my perception of risk and fear..

Maybe someday you and Stephen Robert Irwin can have a long discussion on this concept.........and he was a pro.

But for now.........try expanding the limits of your perception.

quite simply put, carbonboy, the reason you do this is because you care fkall for the rules of the road. You justify your behaviour based upon the supposed bad behaviour of others, and then harp on about how hypocritical WE are, when some of us break the rules in cars / bikes / whatever.

That is EXACTLY the same reasoning that a red-light jumper / speeder / street racer would use to justify their behaviour. To do something that gives them control, an adrenaline rush, a feeling of supreme power. And then reason that they can do it, because many others do, despite the fact that it is illegal.

You know what, I speed on a bicycle, not every day because to get above 60 kph is difficult. I have been doing this for as long as I have had a bicycle. And you know what, I occasionally jump red lights at night in Hillbrow. Am I doing the image of cyclists harm? Certainly not in Hillbrow at night and certainly not breaking the speed limit because the motorist on the road are doing the same speed as me. Can I get killed doing it? Absolutely, I am well aware of the risk. Will I stop doing it? No, because it is within the limits of my perception of risk and fear. Do I pose a serious risk to other road users? Perhaps a minor risk, but in my opinion not a serious risk to others. Do I do it because this is a lawless country and I know I will get away with it? Absolutely not, this is a worldwide activity. Why do I do it? I do it for the rush, the adrenalin, the camaraderie, and that is what I want to capture on film. Is it controversial, well clearly it is on this forum seeing the storm and backlash it has generated. Can I defend it? No.

So call me what you want, call me a ****, an asshole, an idiot, illogical, brainless, suicidal, a kamikaze rider on tik, tell me how soon I am going to die, whatever you want, it does not worry me as I am old enough not to care about other peoples opinion of me, but the real irony of these posts is that I am quite open about how I ride a bicycle, I am not ashamed of it, but the rest of you are just so pious and sanctimonious about how you ride your bicycle that you cannot even see that you, your wife, your mates whatever, do way more dangerous things on a daily basis.

Carbonboy, you showed balls. I respect it. Im not referring to the speed here. You coming back on and putting it out there. I have also done it. Did I make a video? No. Did I tell people? Oh hell yeah, did they believe I hit 120km/h down chappies? Absolutely NOT. you have proved it. Got the shirt and the likes.(and dislikes...) Thats it. Yes it is controversial. And that is great for some of us in the world.

Now guys, lets talk about the cricket.
