Dredging this post up from the depths of the archives...

Has anyone had experience with Hunt wheels ?

There seem to be very mixed reviews out there.

Are they just well marketed re-branded Chinese rims with Novatec hubs?
Are they better (or worse) than that ?

I am looking at the 25 Carbon Gravel X-Wide wheels.
https://www.huntbikewheels.cc/products/hunt-25-carbon-gravel-race-x-wide-wheelset?variant=52749738443124

I like the 27mm internal width, 28 spokes and generous weight limit.
What alternatives are there out there?

The Reserve 40|44 Gravel wheels look beautiful, but that price is a tad eye watering. Not that these Hunts are particularly cheap...

you really cannot go wrong with HUNT.

excellent wheels

great support to - even in RSA

i'm not sure where they are built, but i'd take a set of HUNTS over ENVE every single time.

much better QC at Hunt.

as a side, i see MICHE also do a set of 27mm internal width wheels.

i dont have any experience with MICHE but they have been around a long time - worth looking at

Incl shipping and tax that Hunt wheelset mentioned comes in at around R27 600.

I can build a wheelset with Nextie's incredible hubs and their 25mm ID or 29mm ID gravel rims in depths between 30mm and 60mm, with lightweight bladed spokes and black brass nipples, including delivery for around R24k.

Max system weight of 150kg.

Wheelset weight between 1200 and 1400g depending on the rim model.

@splat I'm more than happy to put together some specific options for you to look at.
