Drowsiness from training?

I have not been riding much the last 2 years (surfed my brains out) and started upping my milage again slowly through September - October and have been doing ave 30hours a month (7-8hours a week) Nov, Dec and heading for about 35-40hours this month in preperation for Tankwa Trek in Feb.

During my December holiday I noticed some lightheaded/drowsiness when I get up. I never fainted and only once or twice did it last more than 3-4 seconds.

My Father has a bloodpressure meter(he has slight high bloodpressure) and when i measured my bloodpressure he said it was slightly low.

Could this be because of a quick increase in fitness or slower resting heartrate? fatigue? I have no history of heart conditions and have been active my hole life.

Anyone have similar experiance?

I have the same thing all the time.  Do about 8 - 10 hours training a week.  In December, I got up off the bed, felt dizzy and the next thing I know I was in hospital having a brain scan.  Apparently I stumbled back to the bed and fell back and knocked myself out.  My wife says I was concussed for over 3 hours talking absolute rubbish.

Anyway, scan was clear but they had to keep me in hospital for observation.  Next day neurosurgeon sends me to cardiologist for more tests.  Also all clear but another night in hospital monitoring all sorts of other things.  Eventually sent home and told to take it easy for a week.

So I ask them, what do I do to prevent this happening again and they tell me, get up slowly and lose 10.....(no not kilos, I've lost 25 already and now only weigh 77)....years!

Seriously, it is just a blood rush FROM the head from getting up too fast.

I get it 2-3 times a day due to low blood pressure. I have found a light improvement after increasing my salt intake (I don't glow, I sweat gallons and figure I'm probably losing more than I'm taking in).

Hi Guys

Thanks for the replies.

Definately not dehydration. I drink a lot of water and often take Rehydrate sachets after long hot rides.

I think it might be a combination of everything..suger levels and slight low bloodpressure.

Funny that its only started now when Im training more though.

Oh well, I will keep an eye on it and if it gets any worse I'll go see a doc.

I read the title as "Tired after training" and thought: well duh :whistling:

If it only happens first thing in the morning it's probably not worth worrying about. With all the extra training you are doing you could just be running closer to your "minimum" net calory intake and are a little low first thing in the morning.
