Hey hubbers,

time for a new chain on the MTB, what chain would you recommend for the Epic,

i love the gold KMC, but the bling might not be the right call for the Epic

If you don't know what chain to use by now, have you done enough training?

Seriously?

what does my technical question have to do with my training, i have my opinion on what chain to get but was looking for some advice on the Hub, hence the reason for posting in Tech Q/A.

if knowledge and training has a link then i guess you cant even ride a bike lol..... maybe you will figure that one out.

Are you running 9/10/11 spd? Which cassette do you run?

Sho. Touchy.

Anyways, the best chain to use is a new bushingless one with a 1/2" pitch. Shimano, SRAM, KMC, YBN, and a few others make them. Aside from price, weight and shinyness, they're all the same. Take a few spares. Avoid the super light cross drilled extra shiny hollow pin ones because they break easier.

Measure it at the end of each stage (with a ruler, not a chain checker) and replace when worn.

because if you had been doing the mileage required to ride the Epic comfortably, you would have been through a couple of chains by now and would have had a better feel for which chain worked for you.

Just pack a few spare links and quick links in for the race

Hey Droo. Why with a ruler and not a chain checker? Might be a sill question and sorry for the hijack..
