Gen Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 The cobbles doesn't affect Stybar at all, he might surprise yes. If it ends In a bunch then Its Sagan or Degenkolb or Kristoff. But Spartacus might break with a few km to go, and once the steam engine go's...Just don't think Fabulous has that steam engine to just ride everyone off his wheel anymore. . Flip would he cool though.. I think he may save that for flanders or roubaix.

tombeej Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I've got a sneaking feeling in my bones that it's Geraint Thomas' day today. (That is, as long as he stays on his bike).
gummibear Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 How's the weather looking up there in EuroLand, gummi'? Rained last night so wet and cool.Sun expected to make an appearance later today.
tombeej Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I don't expect this to come down to a sprint. The strong classics guys surely won't let this happen - this is their home turf. I see the usual big classics names eventually start to break away in small groups on the later climbs and cobble sections. They are going to make this as hard as possible. It's in their interests to soften up the field as much as possible before they're done with the final climb with 20km to the finish. This is what makes these cobbled classics the best racing IMO. The guys hammer each other so hard that the action is non-stop. Every single hellingen is a race in itself. And it's why only the real hardmen, the bare knuckle fighters, are the ones who win these races. It's a war of attrition where only the strong survive. In these races, it's the guys with the biggest mongrel in them that rise to the top each time. Here's the moment where the final selection was made last year on the Karnemelkbeekstraat climb with 30km still to go. By that stage the attacks on the Paterberg, Oude Kwaremont, etc had done their job.
'Dale Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Not a day for the sprinters but the puncheurs, I hope. Podium:SagaaanThomasVan Marcke
Cav' Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Ebh has some cobbles experience albeit not a lot, it would be a matter of being at the right place at the right time for him.
