For what it's worth, I have Mondraker Foxy and it's a world of improvement over my previous ride (Cotic Rocket). Both are Mediums but the Foxy is just so much easier to control, steer, pop, bounce and fly. Maybe that just speaks to me being shaped like an orangutan but the forward Geo is damn good. It took a bit of time to get used though, fell over several times on my first ride thinking wtf just happened. Obviously the longer wheelbase will feel slower in very tight stuff, but the extra steering control and precision offsets it quite a bit. For me, Mondraker are onto a winner. This is an entirely objective point of view; I have to justify my bike purchase somehow.

*subjective...

yeah, that's what I meant. Thursday morning and the coffee has not kicked in.

Size is medium on both. Hell I'm only 1.75 short, with relatively short legs.

I like the idea of trying to pull the rider more forward on the bike, but i've always wondered why that don't take a leaf out the MX bike book. MX bikes achieve this without a stem and a rise on the bars, I know it's not apples with apples, but just a thought...

Mondraker have applied a similar principle with their bikes...search them out and have a look at their "forward geometry" concept

Seems that by making the "rider zone" ie the space between the pedals and bars bigger, you improve control. What is often mentioned is being centered in the bike when standing. On my bike I always feel a little too far forward when i stand instead of in teh middle. This may mean more body movement to get back or pop the front up is needed. I would like to try a new Reign or a Mondraker to see if there really is a noticeable difference to comfort and control.

Correct.

Hence I'm not overly jealous in promoting certain ways to fit out a bike. Youhave to ride a few to determine what works for what you want it to do and how you ride. Its like buying golf clubs

That may boil down to something as simple as stem / handle bar correction or change. Or maybe the frame size may be slightly out.

Bear in mind all of the newer bikes will feel longer, well because they are designed that way compared to what have ridden in the past

Golf Clubs.....sis, stop swearing!!! El Capitan may drag you out at dawn and make you repair breaking bumps in Tokia berms at this rate...

Confession... i have a set. Haven't used them in 4 years (only play together with my dad) but I still have a set.
