ReCycle Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Hi Hubbers I am a newbie and looking at buying a bike. Any assistance will be appreciated. I am comparing 2 second hand bikes at more or less the same price. First is a Bianchi Pulse carbon 26" and the second is a Silverback Vida 1. Both bikes are in excellent condition. The first question is obviously the difference between a 26" and a 29". I am 1.83m so a large. This will be my only bike (for now) so I will be using it for all terrain types. Which is better value for money and which will hold its value better when I want to upgrade? Thank you in advance

Breezer Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Take both for a test ride. I have a vida 1 and won't swop it for the best 26er in the world, but that is just me. 26 ers are already hard to sell so in a few years they would be very difficult to sell.
karlvand Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 You can't go wrong with the Silverback. Most guys I have ridden with that start on a 26" end up moving onto a 29er in the first few months.
GoLefty!! Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 for a large size and at 1.83 m tall a 29er is probably a better fit for you in that the front end of the bike is taller without the need for lots of ugly and flex inducing spacers and steerer tube

iamgigglz Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I know nothing of Bianchi but I can say I'm loving my Vida 1; my first bike in 18 years. The 29er is supposedly slower to change direction and is definitely slower to accelerate, but once you're rolling there's not much that will kill your momentum. Feels great.
