Belgian biker Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Hi, I'll be in SA in 2 weeks (yay!)I'm considering buying a GPS for my bike here in Belgium. A basic Mio or Garmin is around €180 = +/- 2500ZAR.Are they cheaper in SA? Is it worth waiting to buy one (at the bike expo maybe?)But if I buy one in SA, I'd also need to get extra maps for EU advice anyone?

So I think it will be better to buy in belgium as unlikely to be cheaper here. Also better if you need to return it under warranty. The basic bike garmins you are looking at dont need maps?

Spoke101 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 We pay way more for example the new Garmin 1000 in the US is $600 so direct exchange would be about R7000 yet we pay R10000. And as far as I know there are no import duties on electronics like these.

Things that are imported into sa (Bikes, computers, brand clothes etc) are generally more expensive than in eu.
