The double ones, is 11 speed really such an upgrade?

I have recently learned that comic sans is not a widely liked font. I apologize for the.. font. I'll keep that in mind for future reference.

Sorry again and thanks for reading!

Upon further research, and a fathers guidance, I saw that you loose more or less 7% power at each ends of you cassette when using the 11-36 1x10 setup. I think the single less tooth at the end of the sram cassette might give you that little edge, but with a extender cog, you can make up the granny side of the cassette.

For one, I am very happy with my 1x10. Thank you all for reading and your replies.

10% at the long ( small cog) end. Significant if you regularly mix a bit of gravel and tar road with your trail riding.

At the granny end, 42t is 14% shorter ( easier) than 36t

Mmmmmm I don't know about worth it or necessary but surely one of the big drawcards of the SRAM 11 speed is the 10-42 cassette? That provides a larger spread not only on the easy side which is what most are able to achieve these days pretty easy with a 10sp .....

what you say here is very valid. Just gone from a 11t / 34t to a 12t / 36t cassette and the additional tooth hads really taken off some top end speed on my 1x9 setup!

I have 34 in front, 11-36 at back - this does the job. I would say with the addition of 42 big cog and a 16 replacement for the 15/17, I would never need 11 speed. Not worth the cost, rather upgrade the brakes or pay for some race.

If I wanted more top end speed, I would then be able to put 36 in front.

Stop riding on tar with your MTB!!!!FFS

I use the big chain ring on the st decents when riding the trail bike running a 3x9spd.....think of trails like cobra at hoogies and conters st
