there is no such thing. well at least not in this country anyways. bang for buck the trance is undefeated. i enquired about a 2008 nomad recently. no price was listed in the add so i asked. i was expecting between 12 and 15k hoping to negotiate to a cool 11 or 10 if im lucky. But when i got a response with the asking price of 18k. The first thing i thought was, i could probably get a 2014 trance with that kinda cash.

Silverback slider (I think) but there's an xl Spez stump jumper frame in the classifieds....

That Silverback is pretty, they had one in Green at Chris Nixon's the other day and it does look good.

Unfortunately. Nothing else.  However I see most trance owners upgrade a LOT of stuff. Adjust your budget to 40k. And you can get many many awsome machines. With no upgrades needed.

this might offend some, but having an alloy trance for your dream bike is a bit like your dream bike being a 1.4 toyota corolla, theres nothing wrong with it, but its a bit... boring.

like i said, theres nothing wrong with trances, i just dont want one if i can avoid it

There is nothing else, not just on price but on ability, reliability, warranty, support, track record, resale,  list goes on... It is really a GREAT do it all bike.

As the others alluded to though, most people upgrade those Trances over time until they have a very capable bike that would have costed as much as everything else...

I think that's just why it is successful, most people want to start riding trails but cant afford R40k one shot. So what do they do? Buy a Trance for 24k and then slowly upgrade as things break (not really) or money comes in. Sure at the end of the day you have a pimped out Trance that you have spent as much as a SC costs but thats not the point. The SC was never an option.

And sure, it is a Toyota but come on 1.4 Corolla? No ways. More like a 4x4 GT86 if there was such a thing.

PS: I dont own a Trance.

Had a deal set up the other day for a Camber Evo with a dropper post included for under R35k.

That then has X7, X9 Type II and Reverb with Deore stoppers, Butcher and Ground Control (will be able to get grid casing soon) tekkies, the new Roval Fattie rims (29mm inner width!) and a RockShox Reba RC 29 solo air.

Maybe not as aggressive as the Giants, but imo the perfect trail bike for SA conditions.

And Spez have made it possible to fit a Monarch Plus on the rear now for the Evo, so you can go that route.

I think the comparisons are a bit off on this... A 1.4 Corolla is way overpriced. Think more along the lines of a Nissan GTR - It is better than a lot of other supercars at a fraction of the price.

Besides... Just because something is expensive does not make it better. Look at a Land Rover... It's crap but somehow people think it has some sort of status

Camber Evo is lovely, I have the expert, but I enjoy my Stumpy fsr a lot more actually.

Ja, I have the same stumpy which I beefed up.  Ironically though, the Evo is actually a bit more aggressively specced and built.  Head angle of my Stumpy with a 140mm fork is 68.5' whilst the Camber Evo with a 120mm fork is 68.8' so if you pop a 130mm Pike on there it'l be 68.3' more or less.

And I can't fit a MOnarch Plus on my Stumpy.  A Monarch Plus and 130mm Pike on the Evo will turn it into a monster that could compete with the Evil The Following IMO.

Who said the Trance is my dream bike??

I have an incredible amount of fun on my "alloy" Trance which is just about stock standard.

Nothing boring about it.

Do you have 3X more fun on your overpriced BMW?

If it were not for the Trance I would not ride - just don't have the budget.
