Don't wish it was easier. Make sure you are stronger.

Every March, in the Western Cape, people use a phrase "You don't ride a sub3 Argus. Your group does". And that same logic applies.

On the morning, regardless of the weather, work with those around you of similar strength (even even try and hang with those slightly stronger) and earn your sub4.

for sure, I hear you. just gotta see how things work out on the day, or just make them work.

The Inchanga section onwards has very good road surfaces. You can really bomb down those descents with full confidence. But before that, that stretch from the top of Fox hill to Camperdown really has deteriorated. It will be a bad idea to just blindly follow the wheel in front of you along that section. I fear there'll be accidents on Sunday in the early bunches, who will be racing fast and close.

Regarding the potholes. most of them have been filled in between PMB and half way along the Dardanelles. the last climb/drag coming into Umlass road is absolutely terrible, looks like an air strike was ordered on that section road. Seriously worried about going through there on Sunday at ±50kph. Will ride that section in the morning and if nothing has changed, I'll be phoning the organizers.

As far as I can see there are currently 3 people doing the social recce of the Inchanga-M13 stretch on Saturday morning:

tombeej, hayleyearth and Tayyib.

Anyone else going to be joining us? We'll be going super slow, promise :).

I reckon 5h30 from Oscars. Very chilled 2hr ride then brekkie. That gives us the rest of the day to put the feet up and do as little as possible. Come and join us!

Ok update time, all the major potholes at the end of the Dardanelles section have been filled

There is still the odd lurker as well as 3 major holes in a row (left side) about 5kms back at the base of the steep little kick half way along the Dards between Thornville and Umlass road.

Good news! Thanks for the update.

Just a heads up for those who attended last year.

If my memory serves me correct, registration was inside the casino, in one of the conference rooms on the top floor and the expo was situated in a tent outside. That is no longer the case. If you park in Sun Coast parking lot and walk towards the casino, you will see a large white tent to your left. Both registration and the expo are in that tent.

Overall, apart from getting lost in the casino and not receiving much help at the information desk, very smooth process and some cool booths set up at the expo.

Have fun kidlets.
