Hi

Someone know more about the concrete path in construction?

Less than 500m finished but more in progress. I'm keen to learn what is the long term route planned - hopefully down to Old Paarl one day. Brilliant space to run / MTB, but definitely need more 'regular' users to make it safer.

Don't see it mentioned in the district plan:

At this stage I like what I see

Maybe it will go under the N1 with the river and end up at that car park next to Frans Conradie below the R300....

.. and then to Old Paarl...and then to the railway service road... and then left into to Brackenfell Boulevard....onto the doorstep of Bottelary MTB network... ah well, I can dream.

On a serious note though - not much completed but hats of to the decision makers to start making this area more accessible!

Cool another place to get mugged or bikejacked Awesome!

casting a back voodoo :whistling:

Agree the area look dodgy at this stage - there were two occupants at the red cross yesterday. I use the area from time to time and never had issues. A good clean-up will go down well though.

But in farness to who is building the blue path: the lower sections of the trees are cleared and the entire path is visible from the traffic jam along the entire Eversdal Rd.

I have the same reasoning with this as per Majik Forest - we need more 'numbers' that use the area to make it safer. If you stay away the 'booswigte' has a free for all.

There have been many compliants from house owners living in Vredekloof about the occupants living in the bushes in that vicinity and from what I understand, attempts to have them relocated have been unsuccessful. I would not ride in that area :whistling:

It's only a small clump of trees, not a major bushy area.

I went past there yesterday afternoon, and they were busy putting down the borders for the path, right next to the road at Stodels side.

I don't see it developing to a new MF - even though the space and gradients are there to play with, the soil is just too sandy in areas. Good for the running though...soft on the legs and dog can roam free.

The big potential is to have a connection path that you can use to go places where you really want to cycle. Such connection would be a excellent commuting path as well - that link Brackenfell-Durbanville. (no extreme gradients)
