Nice ! Have u done it before ?

I did the first one where we rode to Soweto from Braamfontein & back. With surprise detour was about 50kms. Was very well organized with rolling road closures and great vibe.

Only reservation I might have this time in getting in to Sandton. If you need to drive in , I think it will be a case of go as far as you can towards the start, park and ride in.

Just received an email updated from them:

With only 4 days to go for the Freedom Ride Jozi March 2015 we want to make sure that you are ready to explore Johannesburg! We want to make sure that you have an awesome experience, and to do that here is some useful information that will help you get through Sunday's ride.

The ride will have 4 water points sponsored by the Freedom Ride partners, making sure that you are well hydrated and refreshed at all times. The water points will be at the following locations:

1. 8th Avenue, Alexandra (6.8 kms)

2. Waverly Park (11.7 kms)

3. Oxford Road, Rosebank (22.8 kms)

4. Mushroom Farm Park, Sandton (27 kms)

As we know, Joburg is fairly hilly, and to make it easier for you we will have a sweeper bus following the ride as well as bus pickup points at the following locations:

1. Waverly Park

2. Zoo Lake

3. Bolton Road, Rosebank

To keep you safe and comfortable throughout the ride, JMPD will be have rolling road closures, as well as JRA and ThinkBike marshals making sure that the motor vehicles do not interrupt you on this fun journey through Johannesburg.

Lastly, as you may know by now, we like to give our Freedom Riders a good time. In keeping with that tradition we will be waiting for our riders at Mushroom Park, where we will have live entertainment, food and coffee vendors, and a kid’s play area. So for those of us who will have family members waiting at the finish line, make sure that they join us for some fun-filled activities at Mushroom Park!

It is going to be loads of fun this Sunday so bring everyone along with you. Registrations will be open until Saturday midnight!

Best Wishes from the Freedom Ride Team.

Probably CM pace yeah, maybe a little faster, I did a dry run last week with some beginner riders and it took us just over 2 hours without stops. So thinking it would take between 2.5 - 3.5 hours on Sunday with stops.

Myself and a mate are doing this...

Dof question but we've registered and have reference numbers, am I correct in saying we pretty much just arrive on Sunday morning?

Correct. Registration is just to get an idea on numbers, as well as to get people to donate to Qhubeka.

Also rather riding in from home to avoid traffic.

Having said that; there should be maningi parking at Sandton City parking garage that time of the morning. Flat rate of R10 on weekends if I remember correctly.

Looking forward to this one - see ya'll there!

On the topic of parking, please park at Sandton City and do no use the Gautrain parking, Guatrain parking will cost you R100.
