Having 2 tours in the same area at the exact same time is not healthy for the sport.

A consensus needs to be reached between the 2 organizers and either go back to having 1 race namely Tour de Boland or have 2 separate events months apart.

Having 2 road tour events could actually be quite nice as we currently have tons of multi-day MTB races and all of them are successful.

Jip, and they were also sanctioned by CSA - was told TdB and Rouleur do not impinge, due to different rider sets.

Worked well, the one is racing and riding, and the other is shoulder rubbing.

Is there also not  the Cape Rouleur on over the same time period and same region!!

We are at 30 commitments for the 2016 TdB - once we get to a 100, I am sure we can run the event with no risk.

At this point, 3 entities have applied to Cycling SA for sanctioning on the same roads, the same days, etc. We'll only start accepting entry fees once we are 100% committed, BUT do need your names, on here: www.tourdeboland.com

Cost for tour?

2k apparently. Not sure if that's the final price.

If it's a 100 people who signs up and race, would that be inclusive of the pro's or would they rather race for potentially big moolah in that other tour you think?

We don't race for prize money or to say we have raced against pros. If there is a decent field of the usual suspects it would be really awesome. Maybe savage even challenges another team in a friendly comp ;)

Final price is R2k. 100 signups will exclude the elite field. Our aim is to offer a Tour to whoever would like to ride their bikes in the Boland, over 6 days, into 6 areas, along similar lines of safety and fun as ever before

.

If we get more than 100, we are grateful, and able to offer a Tour. Anything more, and we can adjust our vision, by returning to a former advanced state of organisational power.

If it makes sense, and you are keen to see it happen, sign up through Facebook or tourdeboland.com

@milky: we are at 62 entries.....provisional nods of support are perfect ...it means we are gaining early traction, and can make appropriate decisions regarding the event's format and risk factors.
