a real stupid stupid question and please don't flame me as I am coming of an 17 hour plus week and feeling rather tender.i smoke.one of the most difficult issues for me is to be without a sigarette on race day.i can sort of survive the day without a smoke but when I run past a spectator who smokes all hell breaks loose in my mind.are you allowed to take a drag and race further or would that be taken as outside assistance.

I was actually thinking along the same lines... just about beer.... :whistling:

haha , great question. I guess it could be construed as outside assistance however the judges are unlikely to caution you for it as we are age groupers and I guess you not gunning for a kona slot.

Why not put a smoke in each transition bag and in your special needs bags so you have a couple to smoke while you out there.

I aint ever seen anyone actually smoke in an event but loads do afterwards. The only rule I can think of is that you don't throw your stompie away as that would be littering. but I stand to be corrected on the rules.

Get yourself an electronic and stick it in a transition bag, it should see you through if you are really battling.

Some days (read most days) I am like a zombie come 6 pm...in bed by 8 and fast asleep by 8:01. But I wake up at 4 feeling like superman so I guess just shifted our normality to the left of the 24 hour clock.

Tapering for me in 26 days...easter Monday will be my last hard session

Ja, gonna take it easy this week, hopefully recover, give it (some) horns the following 2 weeks and then it is what it is. :D

760....

I am also starting the 'taper' the Day after Two Oceans...

The foam roller will come out in force along with yoga, granny gear and time in the pool staying limber.

It is getting very close indeed!

Would like to know who is using what nutrition wise on race day. I have spent a lot of my training sessions conditioning myself through fasting and am now looking to put together a decent nutrion plan that I hope will 'super boost' my performance :)

I have done some research but would like to hear how you guys are tackling your nutrition plans or if any of you have or have made individual super juices.

ps my NUMBER is 898.

I tried High5 this weekend for the first time - overall I was not impressed.

Given that it is what will be on course I must say I am disappointed.

The gels - easy to get down which is a plus but they lack a distinctive punch and fuelling feeling that "normal GUs" do.  This is evidenced by the fact they encourage their use EVERY 20 minutes - which for me seems insane.

The energy bar - borderline inedible.  Very sweet and just crap tasting.

The drink - not bad / not great.  I have used Pace and Power to date and feel its hydrating and sustenance qualities are far superior to that of High5.

I was hoping to be able to "feed" off of what was going to be provided to us but now I think I will have to take almost ALL my nutrition with me.

If anyone is looking for really good stuff I recommend Pace and Power - superb superb stuff, specifically designed for long endurance type events like IronMan, EPic etc
