 Do they last?

All depends what frame it is and the value to replace the the frame. I do it quite often and have no problems with the repair at all. If you interested you can contact me and I will be willing to assist.

Hi its A Fuji Tahoe 1.0 replacing it with  carbon frame looks like R13500.00 So if I can do a repair I would not mind

Aluminium is such a hard material to weld correctly.

If done correctly the frame should be heat treated in order to remove any stress in the material. The area where it is broken is a high stress area too, so the chances are it will break again.

In my experience it never works very well and doesn't last.

Just my opinion.

We do specialized wielding! Bring it in and we can have a look! I'm sure it will be cool! Inbox me if you want

I was going to post this for a mate - he ha a Gary Fisher frame where the swingarm has sheared - aluminium frame this is. I know carbon can be fixed and ally can be welded but if its a clean break do you think you could weld it ?

Busted!!!!!! Yeah yeah but I'm getting bored and physio says I can start doing light work with my arm. Went in to the shop today with the better half's blessing. Think she would still like a kitchen left!!!!

I weld ally frames quite often and have a very good success rate. If it's a high stress area I would suggest having it heat treated yet again to bring the material back to condition t6, alternatively the entire frame can be hard anodised wich does the same and looks ultra cool.

Think you could weld a crack in a .45 frame? just above the slide release - very very thin,,,, and aluminium too...
