i always thought that enduro was just a race format for Allmoutain riders.....

I always wanted an ALL Mountain bike way before Enduro race format. Back then All mountain never caught on. Also I think it was closely related to freeride.

3) Fun

4) Woo hoo (includes occasional sphincter workout)

Google the word Enduro.

Your first bunch of results will always be MX related.

It would seem then that a word which was originally coined by the Motorcross industry has become the new catchphrase synonymous with 'All Mountain' mountain biking.

While the word 'Enduro' and its relation to mountain biking certainly started with the race format of all mountain riding. Its meaning has since extended to the casual weekend warrior and his/her 150mm bike as well. 'All mountain' is simply being replaced by the word 'Enduro' It certainly sounds more attractive and probably partly why its such a popular bandwagon today.

While mid to long travel bikes have been around for a while they were never intended for specific trails. At least that's how is started. They were intended to handle everything, well, almost everything. Hence the term All Mountain Biking. You wouldn't ride your XC bike down a DH trail and you couldn't really climb your downhill bike. It was inevitable then that the industry would at some point see the requirement of a bike which could try and tackle both.

But things have changed. Enduro exploded and now, trails are being purposefully built to challenge these range of bikes and riders. I still opt for my trail enduro bike instead of anything else when I go ride because I can ride anything, or at least try to.

Overseas there is another name they use which I think best describes most people well at least me...

"Freeriding" - you just love all things off road, from a day of Xc riding to hitting some flowing single track, to some mad technical sections, flirting with some DH lines and finally topped with some dirt jumping...

We just love to ride our bikes, so you buy a bike that can do it all...
