ROUTE DESCRIPTION

For the first 5 km, all routes follow scenic farm roads and jeep tracks through olive orchards and vineyards. Then the 10 km returns through vineyards and farm roads to the venue.

The 30 kmroute continues via rocky paths and jeep tracks over typical Karoo hills with some climbs onto the lower Langeberg mountains until it reaches a secondary gravel road, after which it joins the 10 km route to return to the venue.

The 60 km route is aimed at experienced, fit cyclists and includes fairly technical sections. After leaving the 30 km route, the 60 km route heads up the mountain and down to Toontjiesriver, with a few more climbs included in this section. Participants will cycle through a game camp and climb up the tough but scenic 4x4 track to the Vodacom tower at the top of Mowers Hill. From here it’s downhill for 10 km to the Nuy Valley through vineyards and olive orchards to return to the venue.

DIRECTIONS TO VENUE

Take the N1 from Cape Town. Turn right to Worcester/Robertson and follow the R60 to Robertson. Continue for 14 km and turn left to Nuy. Continue for 4 km to Willow Creek Estate and follow the MTB signs to the parking area. GPS Coordinates: S: 33°39.59 ; E: 19°37.24

Is there a route profile available for this? Considering doing this race the sat and gravel travel the sunday. Gravel travel I know will be a very tough one with plenty of climbing

Joh,that was a nice one, tough but nice.Met some new people on route, had a flat, fortunately I could just bom it and be off.Had to walk some of the back nine to the last water point, but luckely it was all downhill and flat from there. All in all a good day out on the bike.

Did the 30km. Awesome. Shaved 5 min off my time from last year. Would have been quicker but one of my team mates, we are 3 brothers cycling together, was feeling a bit off. Never leave a wounded comrade in the war... Happy.
