The VXi's are fantastic aren't they.

I was in the 'Five-Ten are too expensive' naysayer group until I convinced the wife to buy a pair as my Christmas present.

Now I am barely one step short of going full blown born again, knocking on strangers doors, giving them pamphlets and trying to change the way they live through adopting the way of the Five-Ten.

Yeah, the same here until I knocked my toe. These VXi have nice reinforcement as well making the foot protected is a big plus

my word, that was incredibly astute of you there skylar...

but now that you've enlightened me to this horrible hazard, i shall report back once i got my pair. Hope they've incorporated 5.10s replacement of the rather absorbent foam liners with something more hydrophobic for quicker drying like Patches new kicks.

I wouldn't really call that observation astute, as you kindly pointed out after deliberating for 20mins holes let in water, it's not rocket science.

Let us know how the shoes are when they arrive.

cannot be overvalued just how good that toe box is at taking serious knocks.

in the polar opposite direction. what you consider some of the least liked features of 5.10s?

mine are/were in no particular order:

  • lack of stitching of the soles to the uppers in v1 and v2 of the freeriders. caused the uppers to start separating, especially after a season which includes riding in the wet.
  • the little numberplate at the back of the shoe comes off.  :(
  • they dont sell replacement number plates. :(

Damn, I have yet to experience the sole coming loose. However I wish they would have added a velcro strap at the top of the laces

Didn't the karver have that velcro'd flap over the laces?

i wont mind the boa system being introduced to the impact/VXi ranges.

Naa, I like it must be basic. Velcro is high tech enough. Anything else breaks and becomes useless

true that. but i get lekker the moer-in when i'm pulling on my laces and they snap right at the eyelet, this while rushing out the door to get the last bit of daylight riding.. vrek annoying.

Yeah, only downside of old well used laces. The moment u see laces starting to fray, rather change them.

I hope you find those adidas to be a good comparison to the 510. I contemplate the specialized shoe for 2 min and decided against it. They are lightweight and nicely made but just doesnt seem  as reinforced

I had this on my Impact Lows... They were replaced for free.

I just ordered some impact vxi. Still in shock that ive paid 2400 rand for shoes. Its absurd. But im excited nonetheless

You won't regret them!

I landed my first pair of Impact VXi at about R1500. The pair I got 2 weeks ago landed at about R1850. The rand has taken a beating against the USD.
