Bikes bought for Trainers

Hi Hubbers,

I am after some advice regarding my indoor trainer.

I recently bought the KickR and have been extremely impressed with it. I cycle on the road most mornings and like to train on the IDT at night...this therefore means quite a bit of admin in terms of removing the wheel at night and fitting it for tomorrow's ride. Now sure, this isn't a big thing, but I would prefer the convenience of a bike which is permanently fitted up to the IDT.

* Do you guys have any recommendations on a new/second hand bike that I could use for my IDT bike (ideally less than R5 000)?

* Would the bike geometry make a difference (i.e. should my race bike match my training bike to-a-tee)?

Feel free to share your experiences!

I (personally) don't think the geometry have to be very similar, just the the IDT-bike correctly setup for you.

I bought a 2nd-hand el cheapo road bike  that stays in the IDT and my other bike is a 130mm FS trail bike.

Vastly different geometry and I still benefit form the IDT.

Apologies for the hi-jack, but the question is poignant to the topic.

Would you (the racing snakes) suggest a training bike on a ID trainer, or a spinning bike?
