gatorskin puncture

I have a brand new gatorskin with which I punctured. The problem now is that whenever I put a new tube in it punctures again. If I put another tyre on no problem.so I guess there is something stuck in the gatorskin tyre that caused the initial puncture and the subsequent ones. I cannot find it though. I have marked the place where it punctures every time, but cannot find the obstacle. I do not want to can the new tyre as it has less than 30 km on it, but need to find the object. Any ideas apart from having my eyes tested?

turn the tyre inside-out...this will reveal most of what is stuck in there...done it a couple of times and worked every time  You got to go every inch with your hand, feeling folding the tyre where the surface looks "different"

I had this problem before with a tire, it was a tiny piece of wire stuck in the tire, very difficult to spot. The nature of the puncture should tell you what is causing it, a wire hole may take a couple of rides to form. It will be very small.

they have a pretty stiff bead, could be that the tube gets caught between the rim and the bead, especially if you use a tyre lever to put the tyre on.  check the shape, size and location of the hole in your tube.  if it is on the inside of your tube, not just a hole but a bit of a cut and fairly big I'd say chances are 99% that that happened.

PS not sure if you use a tyre lever, but for road bikes at least tyre levers are ONLY for getting tyres off, not for putting them back on.

Edit:

Tips:

give the tube one or two small pumps once you have it inside the wheel, this helps to prevent the above-mentioned pinch.  If you pump it too much, you might struggle to get the wheel on without a lever.  If this is the case, deflate until you can get it back on.

After it punctured, and you remove the tube from the tyre, take careful note of how the 2 fits together, because the position of the hole in the tube, will narrow down your search area on the tyre as well. Mark the general area of the tyre and do like Reg recommended.
